Late Night Thoughts

As the school year is nearing a close, I was just wondering today what I thought college would be like when I was in High school. I feel that I, and many other people, thought high school was supposed to be the best time of our lives; that after high school, there'd be occasional parties and everything but nothing would be the same. For me, I was a little disappointed during high school cuz i'd see everyone play/hang out and i'd have to stay indoors practicing or doing homework. I'd think to myself, "Oh no, I'm wasting my life doing pointless stuff while everyone is doing meaningful stuff...like having fun." But now, I realize that, though it's reeeeally cheesy, your life after high school is not ending, but rather just begining.

Then another thought. I ask some older people if they remembered their best friends in high school and almost all of them said no unless they were part of youth group. I feel that this is very true. I've lost contact with almost all my high school friends with the exception of youth group and the occassional faceobok message/wallpost. I feel so fortunate to have friends from youth group. Just today I was looking through my senior scrapbook and couldn't help but cry a little. All those good times ended but there are more to come. sigh...can't wait

I got word today that I'm gonna join another ensemble here at school which means I'll be putting another class to my already packed schedule. Actually, with this new ensemble, I'll have seven classes every Tuesday. For those of you who are like, "Seven classes? That's nothin, I'm in high school and I have nine classes." well, in my case, seven classes means start school at 8am and end at 5pm with no lunch breaks. And to top it off, my small group meets on Tuesday at 5 so I don't get a break until 9pm. Heehe, at least I can't get lazy right? This is gonna be super fun...not.

To lighten things up a bit:

Sucking

Man this week has been going by sooooo slow. Most of it is due to the fact that I'm totally sucking at harping right now. Like seriously, every single day i've been messing up in rehearsals, lessons, group lessons, etc. I don't know if this is the life for me anymore. Maybe I just need to take it slower.

Anyways, my fingers hurt...

Stupid VH1

This is my last week of Christmas break and I have begun to prepare myself for school. This involves finding cheaper textbooks, practicing more, and running a little to lose off the extra weight gained during the holiday season. Of course, there's all the vegging to do as well...like watching all the episodes of Nauruto and staying up watching tv when there's absolutely nothing good to watch. It was during this time when I was pointlessly flipping through tv channels when I found a show called "Tool Acadamy" on VH1.

Now, I usually don't watch VH1 because I find most of their shows really stupid but this show was quite interesting. Tool Acadamy is a reality game show where a dozen couples are trialed and tested to see if the male will change his ways in order to fix their relationship (the girlfriend "enrolls" their boyfriends on this show. All the girls on the show experienced some kind of hurt from their boyfriend). Each week one male is eliminated and the last couple standing gets a whopping $100,000. Now, I'm all for fixing relationships and all but that's a TON of money that they could be spending on something soooo much more worth it. But that's not what really gets me angry...

About a year ago I came across another show in VH1 called "The pick up Artist." This show is also a reality gameshow where a few guys are taught in the ways of the pick up artist. They're taught and tutored by a guy named "Mystery" and they face elimination each week depending on their performance picking up chicks. I looked up Mystery and he is the author of the mystery method: how to get beautiful women in bed. Do you see any irony with VH1?

Tool Acadamy is trying to fix relationships. The Pick up Artist is trying to get guys to make shallow relationships. It's like you can be a candidate on the Pick up Artist and then be enrolled in the Tool Acadamy the next season! It's simply outrageous...and stupid...so stupid.

A Curious Case

I got back a little while ago from watching the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with my family. It was an amazing movie. Probably one of my favorites. I heard from other people that they didn't like it too much because it was too long (176 min - about 3 hours). I agree that it is long but that's what makes it so good. I mentioned before that I like movies that take place over long periods of time and one reason is because you get to see a good chunk of a person's life - or in this movie - the whole thing.

I believe that everyone has an interesting life story. Some are more exciting than others but everyone has one. I've often pondered about people's stories before I even meet them. Hehe, sometimes I would stare at people on the streets wondering where they came from. I started asking my parents about chunks of their lives such as how they met and everything and it's sooo interesting...almost like a chinese love story movie. Anyways, if you haven't seen The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (and if you have time) I would highly recommend it. This movie satisfies a small part of my curiousity of a person's life story...even though it's highly fictional.
